Weight loss is a big business in today’s world where people are making million dollars.
But being a nutritionist one thought always triggered my mind, and that was:- ‘How in ancient times people ate all the carbs, clean food, natural food, wholesome food, no protein rich diet, no Atkinsdiet, still lived a longer and healthy life.’
The simple answer which got lost in modernization was: – MINDFUL EATING.
Ancient people emphasized too much on eating etiquette which is not followed in 90% of the process.
What is mindful eating?
A technique which helps you connects the signal of stomach and the brain.
What is that technique?
It’s just EATING SLOW.
Food is celebration
Food is energy
Food is life
And stomach is way where food can reach out to every part of our body to supply energy to be alive.
Food → Stomach → Brain
This relationship is the most powerful relation in our body.
If this relationship is shaky, the complete health goes for a toss!
Knowing your stomach capacity and body’s need is very crucial. No one can decide how much your body needs except for you.
Yes! Not even me as a nutritionist can advise you on the portion of the meal.
“One chapati or two for lunch?”
“1 glass or ½ glass milk?”
“Salad – 1 medium plate?”
Stop asking anyone! And listen to your stomach.
‘Listen? Does the stomach speak?’
Yes, stomach does speak. But when it speaks you are busy on phone or laptop or TV or with friends outdoor. Eating large bites, over eating, eating everything more left us no choice but to be fat.
Do you know the size of your stomach?
It’s just your palm size.
Are you eating more?
I’m sure you are nodding your head.
The best ways to know your stomach capacity is:-
1. Eat in isolation
2. No TV, laptop or talking to your friend.
3. Keep only ½ serving of meal in your plate and rest outside.
4. Take small pieces of food in your hand / spoon / fork.
5. Chew that piece for 30 times
6. Finish the half portion and ask yourself ‘Are you full?’
7. If not then take half of the half portion kept outside.
8. I am sure you will be full within half the portion of food.
