Weight or Inches? Why is it that Inches are moving and not the weight?
”You look 5kgs down but the scale shows the same weight”
Frustrated. Angry. Tired of trying Hard. But here’s the thing. Why should you bother about Weight when you can see the difference in your size? Just to prove a point or is it because people say you need to be in this weight zone to be slim and trim?
Look. Weight scale is a crappy piece of tool which you rely so much on.
It never says the right thing about what’s happening inside your body. Your body weight changes 10 times in a day. When you are empty stomach- Goes Down. When you have a glass of water- Moves Up. Constipated- Up. Lose motion- Down. Eating healthy or Unhealthy- Up. Starving- Down or up. It’s always confusing.
Get this in your head right now. Weight is the significance of what you is loading in your body? Bone weight? Fat weight? Muscle weight? Water weight? Therefore, losing weight signifies has so many thing- water loss, muscles loss, fat loss or bone mineral loss.
Only checking weight is surely not giving you the right indication of what are you losing. Now here’s the tricky thing.
Fat is voluminous and light like cotton and Muscles are heavy and dense like a heavy stone. So, Fat occupies more volume inside you than weight. So definitely, when you gain Fat you increase more inches because of it’s volume than weight. And same goes vice versa, when you lose Inches, it is pure Fat loss.
Remember this always- ”FOCUS ONLY ON INCH LOSS AND NOT THE WEIGHT LOSS. IF YOU ARE LOSING INCHES AND NOT THE WEIGHT, THEN BE SURE YOU ARE LOSING FAT”

In case you GAIN WEIGHT AND LOSE INCHES then you are increasing muscle mass, improving your metabolism and losing fat. Be happy if this is happening with you. Most of the athletes are 10- 20kgs above their Ideal Body weight and yet look leaner and the logic is the same as written in the previous statement.
And let me say this, when you are looking leaner you should not care about your weight. It doesn’t matter. As long as you are losing Inches, be satisfied that you are doing the right thing.
If you are losing weight and not a single inch then surely it’s only water or muscle loss and not fat loss. This mostly happens only when you crash diet, skip meals, do not exercise or fall sick.

IDEAL THING TO CHECK IS INCH LOSS THAN WEIGHT LOSS. HOW TO ACHIEVE IT?
- Eat Healthy
- Eat Frequently
- Eat healthy Fats like nuts, oilseeds, avocado, ghee, whole milk and milk products, whole eggs
- Avoid processed, packed and refined foods
- Include enough proteins like whole milk and milk products, whole eggs, chicken and fish
- Weight train- 3 times a week, cardio 2 times a week and stretch after every workout
- Rest well

THROW AWAY THE WEIGHT SCALE IF IT BOTHERS YOU SO MUCH. JUST KEEP A CHECK ON YOUR INCH LOSS BY SEEING THE DIFFERENCE IN YOUR CLOTHES, SIZE OR SIMPLY SEE YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR AND SEE THE SMALL CHANGES. MIRROR NEVER LIES BUT THE SCALE DOES.
